Artist's Biography
I grew up in Moscow in the family or artists. Most of my relatives were artists. There are 16 of them spanning 4 generations so it is in fact a real dynasty. My Mum and Dad were well known award winning jewellery designers and my Grandma was a prominent artist of the Social Realism era. As for my Great Great Grandfathers one of them Alexei Kolesov back in 19th century was a very good portrait painter and the close friend of the great Russian landscape artist Ivan Shishkin. His works can be found in the Russian museum in St. Petersburg and the Tretiakov Gallery in Moscow. Digging up the family tree roots recently we have also found out that Alexei Kolesov had married the daughter of the other well known fine artist of that time, Timofey Myagkov, who specialized in genre scene paintings.
When I was little I thought that everyone naturally grows up to become an artist and whenever we would pass my parent's old art university, Stroganov, one of the oldest and most prestigious art schools in Russia, I new that it's the place I will go to after I finish school. And so it happened in 1991. In 1997 I have graduated with the diploma in Fine Arts and had been painting full time ever since.
In 1999, after marriage, I moved to the UK. Since then I had a number of exhibitions in London. Among the venues were Ficino Gallery in Harrow-on-the-Hill, Rowley Gallery in Kensington, East West Gallery in Notting Hill and personal exhibition in Avantgarde Gallery in St.John's Wood. In summer 2007 I took part in the 60th Annual Chelsea Art Society exhibition. My portraiture clients include family of Vice President of Conde Nast International, Vogue's editor Bernd Runge.
