About My Art

I have worked in pastel for the past few years, which i have enjoyed for its hands on qualities, blending and mixing colours on the paper and not on a pallette. I use artists quality Pastel, Unison mostly, on Pastel board and Velour paper, and Pastel pencils for fine detail.
My inspiration comes from everything around me, I do not like to restrict myself to any particular subjects. There are so many fascinating things that catch my eye, beautiful subjects just waiting to be painted, I doubt if i will ever stop painting.
I work from photographs, my own when possible, for the basic layout, then add my interpretation of colours, atmosphere, etc.
I have been asked on numerous occasions if Pastels fade, Pastels do not fade, they will, after many years, stay as vibrant and colourful as the day they were applied.
Pastel will smudge if not handled carefully, therefore Original Work must be behind glass for protection.
I have recently reverted back to oil paint, an old favourite of mine, and i am also dabbling in watercolour.
All my new work is now signed in my maiden name Bushby and not Mckinnon.
