About My Art

The traditional style of my land and sea paintings aims to capture emotions from dramatic vibrant and warm, to calm and tranquil.
With careful use of light and shade, colours are emphasised to enhance the effect. Preferences are- not too fussy pictures, varying the composition limiting the palette, whilst still creating bright designs with maximum impact.
I love to paint dramatic seas or sky's.
A more recent contemporary style of mine, is painting enlarged flowers and using block canvas's. Again, colours and light are exaggerated to dramatic effect.
the sides of the canvas are painted so that a frame is not required. Usually the background will be very plain so ensure the flower remains the focal point.
Most of my oil paintings are under painted in acrylic. I find this technique avoids the "muddying" of colours.
I also love painting realistic still life's which are slightly unusual- food for example.
More recently I have started to develop my skills with figurative work.
I am always looking to develop my skills in new areas, looking for more challenges.
MANY OF MY PAINTINGS HAVE JUST BEEN REDUCED TO CREATE SPACE FOR THE AUTUMN WINTER PAINTING SEASON,SO NO OFFERS PLEASE THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED.
