A little bit about me
I have always painted. I even got a distinction at at A level but was persuaded that "there is no future in it my boy."
I grew up on the commercial Thames and developed a great love of the sea and coastal England and have spent the last 55 years cruising and racing ‘classic' boats.
Reluctantly I had to accept that I was getting a bit “long in the tooth” to hang over the side of the dragon or sweat up the peak on a gaffer. So I turned to my second passion painting marine subjects.
As a mainly self taught artists I am is now lucky enough to be able to brush along full time delighting in painting all things maritime. I have also been caught painting the odd town scape! Very simply put I paint what I see and strive to capture the light and atmosphere of the moment.
A large proportion my work is carried out ‘en plain air' by the shore side or on the briny deep. This work is completed mainly in oils. Considered composition work is completed in the studio. For this work I also use pastels or acrylic media for developing my ideas or the main work.
I am available to complete commissioned work. Also exhibit my work locally at exhibitions in Kent. I also exhibit and sell work with with the R.S.M.A. at the Mall Galleries and with Chelsea Art Society in London. I have also exhibited in Cornwall. My work is available for you to see here
