About My Art

I enjoy painting many aspects of the countryside around the United Kingdom, looking for opportunities to portray vivid colour schemes and contrasting lighting. Water features in many of my paintings and seascapes are a particular favourite of mine, there is nothing to beat the colours of sea, sand and sky particularly on a windy day! I often like to paint scenes including children on the beach – it gives a sense of scale and can be very emotive.
I work mainly from photographic reference material gathered from a combination of past travels, family holidays and targeted trips to capture particular scenery. I think of my camera as a bit like a sketchbook – I often use several photographs together to work up a pleasing composition and work from there. If you like what you see but have your own ideas on subject matter please contact me as I am happy to discuss commissions based on your own photographs.
As well as my landscapes and seascapes, I paint contemporary flower portraits, brightly coloured and bold on box canvas. These are available in a range of colours, sizes and flowers, if you would like something different from what you see here, just ask!
My final type of art is a more traditional portrait in watercolour pencil. These are obviously worked to commission and I will work either from your own photographs or ones taken from an arranged sitting (for which an extra charge will apply).
Please note that where paintings are advertised as available for sale framed, they will generally be supplied unglazed unless delivery in person can be arranged. This is to avoid possible damage due to glass breakage in transit.
