Elie, St Andrews and elsewhere in Fife+

I think the first beach I really remember going to as a small child was the West Sands at St Andrews. Living in Stirling, it felt very far away even though it was only an hour and a half by car! I still remember being excited when the first sight of the town came into view as we approached along the A91. We now tend to visit Fife several times a year and my favourite places to paint are Elie and St Andrews but you will find views of Kingsbarns and Anstruther here too.

Isle of Iona+

I first visited Iona when I was about nine years old. I'd heard about St Columba at school and, intrigued by the stories of green and red pebbles on the beaches, nagged my mum to take me. We arrived in the pouring rain after a journey which had taken all day and involved two trains, two ferries and a bus (which we had to wait three hours for having just missed one). Despite this inauspicious start, we were hooked and went back every year until I left school. Since moving back to Scotland, we've started the tradition again and although the journey still isn't any easier, the effort is worthwhile and Iona remains one of my favourite places in Scotland to visit and paint.

Isle of Arran and the Ayrshire coast+

Arran is a relatively recent discovery for us and the variety of scenery and things to do means it never disappoints. We haven't made it up Goatfell yet though - one day!
This gallery also contains some paintings of the Ayrshire coast including views of Arran from the mainland.

When I was at school, a typical Sunday afternoon activity in summer was a picnic "up the Trossachs", usually to Loch Venachar. Less than half an hour from where we now live, I feel very lucky to be within a stone's throw of such lovely scenery.
This gallery also features landscapes around the Stirling area.

When we lived in south London, Brighton was our nearest seaside town and it always felt good to get away to the coast. We spent many weekends exploring East Sussex and many of the paintings here are inspired by those trips as well as some more recent visits.
This gallery also features paintings of places we have visited around England over the years.
