Welcome to my Mini Gallery

Although born in London, I spent much of my childhood in a relatively remote part of Cornwall. Cornish myth and legend were a major influence as were the illustrations of Arthur Rackham and W Heath Robinson. I was given a copy of 'The Water Babies' illustrated by Rackham when I was far too young to understand the complex moral tale, but I stared and stared at the amazing plates - Mrs Doasyouwouldbedoneby sprang to life on the page and little Tom as a dirty chimney-sweep and then pristine and pink under the water held my fascination by torchlight under the blankets long after I had been put to bed.
