 Hello there, my name is Jan, a self taught artist living in the North East of England.I have sketched and painted for most of my life but didn't take it up seriously until 6 years ago. I began with watercolours, painting local scenes and buildings then started working on more intricate pencil sketches which I sell locally as prints. My prints have ended up as far away as New Zealand and Australia being mailed either as souvenirs of a visit to the area or to family members as a reminder of "home". I now work mainly in acrylics and oils. The bigger the canvas, the better for me. I never plan some of these paintings and what turns up on the canvas is as much a surprise to myself as anyone else viewing them for the first time.
