About My Art

The variations in my style allow me to move from watercolour to acrylic when I feel the need to use more vibrant colours and textures to express my work.
I use photography to provide a template for my watercolours as I feel both light and movement can be 'frozen in time' immediately. When I travel I find that my camera is sometimes just as important as my sketchbook and easel.
I also study and archive art deco and early pop-art in order to introduce a more graphic style to my acrylic work.
Although my work varies considerably in both form and shape I gain most of my inspiration from my love and attachment to the city of Venice. I travel there frequently to capture seasonal change, atmosphere and to soak in the entire ambiance it permeates.
I have discovered of recent years that Venice quenches my thirst in capturing colour and tone as well as provide an endless supply of subject matter. To this end I completed an historical travel journal which will I hope eventually become an aide for both artist and traveller to Venice, titled, 'The Four Seasons of Venice - 12 Historical Walking Tours'.
