This painting is thought provoking of past times, the innocence of childhood fun, splashing unconcerned in the sea, scrabbling amongst the rock pools searching for tiny crabs or a small fish left behind by the outgoing tide.
Busy digging with their buckets and spades building sandcastles.
A young boy finds some seaweed and as he carries it along the beach he attracts the attention of the family pet dog who wants to join in the fun.
The reflections in the wet sand add interest to the painting whilst a forlorn sandcastle lies in ruins where it has been trampled on in the rush to the sea.
The clouds roll across the sea whilst in the distant horizon the blues merge into one with the sky.
