This was a commission for a birthday present.
A little un-conventional as the request was for overseas and my brief was to find the house in a small village of Shrewton and then produce a painting as a surprise birthday present,
Photographs were obtained and the painting began.
It has been a really enjoyable experience and the pleasure of being able to personally give the gift was also a highlight.
As can be seen artistic licence was used to create and highlight certain elements which I felt added to the this painting, the house is being lovely restored and has a stunning weather vein and an old-fashioned replica gas lamp.
To make the most of these features I turned the clock forward to an evening scene with an overcast sky to allow light from the lamp and windows to make the house have a welcoming glow.
