Judy Evans
Artist's Biography

I was born in Portsmouth, England, and my father's work took us to Hong Kong and Singapore where we lived for a few years before I finished my education back in England, later becoming a Civil Servant. My mother was German, and the urge to become more European came from her influence. After spending 6 years in Saudi Arabia during the period of the Gulf War, with my husband and two young children, we moved our home to France and have enjoyed the tranquility of the French countryside, the clear air and light, and the inspiring scenery.
I was employed for two years in the Art department of the school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as an assistant to the teachers. Apart from taking part in an art class to learn techniques in oil painting, and belonging to an art group in France (to improve my French), I am basically self-taught and work from home.
I started selling my work at the suggestion of the Art teacher in Riyadh, and have exhibited in local towns and villages, and participated in many art and craft markets in my area. I have recently developed a website, and I'm working on commissions of animal portraits and houses.
