Mark Satchwill
Artist's Biography

I have loved drawing and painting since a young age. After leaving school and finishing 'A' levels, I took a years Foundation Course at Stevenage College, then completed a BA Hon's Degree Course in Graphic Design (Illustration) at Leeds. Over the next few years I painted sporadically while working in other non-art related areas, then in 1999 I decided to get serious and found a gallery, Adonis Art in London, to sell my work. I had a successful solo exhibition there in 2000. Circumstances meant art was again put on the back burner until 2006 when I decided to devote my full time to it. I had my second exhibition at the Flavel Centre in Dartmouth, concentrating on portraits. Since then I have worked on both commissions and my own more personal work, and have been enjoying myself immensely. The satisfaction of completing a piece of work and then receiving the clients reaction is such a good feeling, and my confidence as an artist has grown. I have sold work to customers in the UK, the USA and the Netherlands, and hope I can continue to grow, both as an artist and as a seller.
