About My Art

My work is in many collections, both in this country and abroad, and exhibited in galleries around the country,
Staithes Gallery,North Yorks.
Trattles,Whitby,North Yorks.
Malvern Hills Art,
I am Associate member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.,About my work itself,it is essentially about light and colour and how it can be portrayed to create atmosphere and mood rather than a record. The majority of my paintings start from painting sketches done on site then developed back in the studio,
Working outside or"plenn-air",I generally use a box called a pochade, which is like a mobile studio, working on gessoed boards.I find painting in the field so to speak, more challenging,as you have only a short time,a little window of light before it all changes.
My influcences are varied, many artists,Edward Wesson and Seago to name but the great master Turner.
Painting like music needs to move or touch that inner self, otherwise it s all empty and souless.
