About Achiltibui, Wester Ross
The village of Achiltibui is an isolated stretch of houses and crofts strung along the spectacular North-West coast of Scotland.
Looking away from the sea, the view is equally dramatic. The distinctively shaped mountain was recognized by a viewer as Stac Pollaidh,(which was rather gratifying) but the attraction for me was the contrast of its commanding dominant shape with the rather hummocky foreground.
As ever, it is also the characterful shapes of the cottages and sheds which have their appeal for me.
This painting is in an exhibition at The Gallery, The Oncology Department, Castle Hill Hospital, Hull from November 2012 until November 2013.
It is available for purchase, but cannot be removed until the end of the exhibition.
