Rachel McNaughton
About My Art

I seem to be best known for watercolour paintings of flowers but I also find inspiration in the landscape around my Yorkshire home and in the warmer countries of Europe.
Watercolour is my favourite medium. With its fluidity and transparence it seems the ideal medium for painting flowers with their brilliant colour and delicate form. I use both watercolour and pastel for landscape painting and enjoy the effects of wet in wet, when painting in watercolour, and the gorgeous colours of pastel. I often use Hermes glasspaper for pastel painting and relish the creamy feel of the medium that results.
Many of my paintings are reproduced as prints and cards by Claughton Images. The cards in particular are for sale in many areas of England and
Scotland and have helped to publicise my name. If you see an original painting that is already sold please get in touch with me as most are available as giclee prints. Most of the prints are in standard sizes but I can often customise the size to suit. Each print is made to order so please allow 14 days for delivery. Just get in touch and we can discuss you what you want.
I teach watercolour painting near where I live and run classes throughout the year as well as workshops in watercolour, pastel and silk painting. Please e mail if you would like more details or you could visit my website www.artbyrachel.co.uk for more details.
