Artist's Description

A King class locomotive near Purley on Thames near Reading, Berkshire.
30 of these very powerful locomotives were built and today 3 remain, King George V, King Edward I, and King Edward II.
Occasionally 6024 King Edward I, still can be seen pulling trains on the main line. If it were not for the wooden railway sleepers and the telegraph poles, this could pass for a modern day scene.
