I am a figurative artist working mainly in oils and pastels, occasionally experimenting with unusual media like shoe polish and candle wax. My work is all about creating characters, people with a story to tell. I like to get "under the skin" of the subject, rather than simply depict a physical likeness, letting the character develop on the page or canvas. Recently the characters in my paintings have appeared as dancing couples, a subject that allows me to use some really big canvases which makes me very happy.
