A little bit about me
I studied Fine Art at teacher training college at the beginning of my career, gaining an Honours Degree in education and teaching for almost 30 years, drawing and painting at every spare moment. While living in Cornwall I was privileged to have my work hung in numerous local galleries. Having taken early retirement and moved to Gozo I now paint full time, enjoying every minute of my day. I recently opened my own gallery in Xlendi Bay, a fishing village on the north west coast where I exhibit my work and organise painting holidays and courses. I have had several very successful solo exhibitions on the island.
My art is representational in style with an emphasis on strong composition and high colour, due to the fantastic quality of light both in Gozo and in my previous home, Cornwall. I enjoy painting most genres, and have a wide range of subject matter to choose from. I frequently paint at dawn as the sun rises to capture the unique light at this time of day, sunrises and sunsets being a speciality of mine. If I am pressed, however, by clients asking my favourite subjects to paint, I have to admit that it would be the colourful and beautiful Maltese boats, Luzzus and Dghajsas. My flower paintings have always been popular both here on the Maltese Islands and in the UK. The other subject dear to my heart is Scuba diving, thus I also paint underwater panoramas of caves, wrecks and flora and fauna - I sometimes have a spot of bother with the watercolour as it tends to run away with me underwater!!!
I am known internationally and have work hung in collections worldwide, from Australia to Africa, America to Europe.
In my gallery on Gozo I have a selection of individually hand painted greetings cards, also bookmarks painted with watercolour on one side and a part of one of my poems on the reverse. These can be viewed on request.
"I have just purchased 2 beautiful 'field poppy' paintings from Thalia Stones, and as a Mini Gallery virgin I have to admit I was a bit nervous. However just a week after sending an enquiry to Thalia they have arrived, well packed and as good as I had expected. Now all I need is a big lottery win to buy up all the lovely paintings I keep spotting!"

Thank you so much for sending the beautiful painting so promptly which I received on Tuesday. I love it. It's so fresh and vibrant. I have bought the painting to give as a gift but I am very tempted to keep it for myself. I will definitely be in touch again for more .
I would like to say a very big thank you for the beautiful painting of Lake Vyrnwy it is truly beautiful. I have now had it framed for my friends wedding present who are getting married at the Lake Vyrnwy hotel on August 21st.
