About Evening Light on Parr Docks
This abstracted painting was the result of the distillation of ideas I had while sketching on the beach one evening. The sky has become a seamless, graduated block of warm grey, the other features of the sketch reduced to blocks of related colours warm in the forground 'beach'. I feel that this painting has captured powerfully the sombre, tranquil mood more than a representational picture would have done.
