| Eugène Delacroix (1798-1863) was a French Romantic painter born near Paris. Delacroix’s paintings were often inspired by the works of Dante, Shakespeare, Byron, and contemporary events. His art was later influenced by a visit to Morocco such as the painting ‘Women of Algiers.’ From 1833 Delacroix worked decorations in public builidings such as the Louvre, Palais – Bourbon and Saint – Sulpice. |
