Pieter de Hooch (1629-c.1684) was a Dutch painter who was born in Rotterdam, de Hooch worked in Delft, Leiden and Amsterdam. He was highly successful in creating small paintings such as ‘The Pantry’ depicting household tasks in courtyards or dark interiors that open into sunlit rooms.
