| On 'Rolf on Art' Rolf Harris did his own version of L.S. Lowry's 'Going to the Match' with his instantly recognisable matchstick figures using the colours Lowry had including the toxic flake white paint, ivory, black, vermilion red, Prussian blue and yellow ochre. Lowry's picture of supporters walking to Burnden Park, the former home of Bolton Wanderers, was bought by the Professional Footballers' Association for £1.92m in 1999 and is now shown at The Lowry, on Salford Quays, Manchester. 'Going to the Match' celebrates its 50th birthday in 2003 and was originally painted in 1953 for a competition. |
