Original paintings and drawings of your pet are available to commission online from one of a number of contemporary artists specialising in animal portraiture. Cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, birds are the most common pet commission subjects but requests for more unusual pets are equally welcome.
Are you a proud pet owner or do you know somebody who dotes on their beloved animal? Do you have a new canine, feline or equine addition to the family? Would you like to capture him or her as a young kitten, puppy or foal?
A commission is a unique piece of art made especially for you. Pet portrait artists can create a beautiful original painting or drawing of your pampered pet in your chosen media including watercolour, pastel, pencil, charcoal, oil, acrylic or pen and ink.
A pet portrait artist will usually request at least one nice clear photograph of your pet to work from. When you commission a pet portrait you might have a particular request; for example that your dog is painted with his favourite toy, your cat lying on her blanket, your bird on a perch, your rabbit is shown together with your guinea pig etc and the artist will usually be able to accommodate most requests.
The amount of time a pet portrait takes to complete and the cost will depend on the size and media involved as well as the artist’s current commission commitments and workload. The cost is arranged in advance and an initial deposit is usually requested before work commences with the balance payable upon completion.
